There was a full house at Cllr James Lawless’ recent election campaign event in Sallins. The event which was a breakfast for supporters was held at Café Grange in Sallins marked the first in a series of campaign events which the Lawless campaign will be holding around the Kildare North Constituency.
Cllr Lawless was selected in March as the Fianna Fáil candidate for the upcoming general election in Kildare North. The breakfast was a great success with queues forming out the door and barely enough chairs to seat everyone. A great buzz ensued, the mood was optimistic and all present were confident that Fianna Fáil will win a seat back in the constituency at the next election.
Speaking at the event was Dara Calleary TD, the party’s spokesperson for jobs and enterprise. He remarked that “with high calibre candidates such as James, the future of politics in Kildare and indeed nationally looks very promising. I look forward to working with James in the next Dáil and I’ve no doubt that the constituents of Kildare North will be much better off with him as their representative.”
Cllr James Lawless speaking of his candidacy remarked that “Kildare is falling far behind other counties in terms of police cover, job and business creation, and critical transport infrastructure investment. Despite having so many Government TDs in our constituency, they have proved singularly ineffectual at delivery. I will challenge this and am standing to ensure Kildare North, and indeed the country enjoys strong, effective and fair representation in the next Dáil.”
