Kildare North Fianna Fáil to Select Local Election Candidates

The Kildare North Fianna Fáil organisation is to select its candidates for the upcoming local elections that are set to take place in May 2014. The party will select members for each of the three electoral areas by ballot of its members under the new One Member One Vote rules.

The party’s candidate selection convention for the Maynooth electoral area will take place on 1st October at Kilcock GAA at 8pm. The Naas electoral area convention will be held on 2nd October at the Townhouse Hotel, Naas at 9pm. The Celbridge electoral area convention will be on 3rd October at the Courtyard Hotel, Leixlip at 8pm.

The convention is open to all members to attend. Under the new One Member One Vote rules, candidates will be selected by a ballot taken of all the members at the convention.

The upcoming local elections will be the first election for the party since its defeat in February 2011. With the rebuilding of the organisation over the past two years and appointment of new and young local area reps to the party, Fianna Fáil is optimistic that it will increase its representation on Kildare County Council.
