Robert is a member of Kildare County Council having been elected for the first time in May 2014 in the Naas electoral area. He is a 27 year old Naas area native, having grown up in Caragh and attended Naas CBS. He qualified from Dublin City University with a degree in Business and since then has been working in online marketing for Paddy Power.
While Roberts study and working life have been business focused his family tradition is rooted in public service with his father Seán and grandfather Paddy having served over 40 years between them in Dáil Éireann.
This combination of backgrounds has convinced Robert of the need for a more just society where those who want to do well can do so unhindered and those who struggle are supported.
As a member of Kildare County Council Robert is focusing his efforts on working with community groups and businesses to promote social and economic recovery in Kildare.
“During the campaign in 2014, I met so many people who shared their problems and ideas with me and I asked for their support in helping me tackle these issues on their behalf. Since then, so many more have come to me with their own personal stories of how they are struggling, how their communities or businesses are under pressure but also people have come to me with ideas to improve their neighbourhoods, their local club or the county in general. I’m an open and honest person and am always available to meet up and chat about whatever issue you think I might be able to help with.”
